Manager of Legislative Affairs
Lee Beckmann has been the Manager of Legislative Affairs
for the Georgia Ports Authority since 2003.
Prior to joining the GPA, Lee served as a Legislative
Assistant to Congressman Jack Kingston. During his four
years in Washington, Lee oversaw several legislative issues
as well as appropriations for the Congressman - helping
to secure funding for various projects such as harbor
deepening in Savannah and Brunswick.
Lee's responsibilities include managing governmental relations
and a statewide outreach campaign for the GPA. His additional
responsibilities include assisting in the GPA's communications
and port relations efforts.
Lee received his Bachelor of Arts in History from Wake
Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He
is a member of the Propeller Club of Savannah and a graduate
of Leadership Savannah. His other civic & community interests
include serving on the Islands YMCA Board of Directors,
fundraising for the United Way of the Coastal Empire and
the Georgia Chamber's membership campaign. Lee is also
a member of the German Heritage Society and enjoys coaching
his son's youth soccer teams in his spare time.
Georgia's deepwater ports and inland barge terminals
support more than 286,476 jobs throughout the state annually
and contribute $14.9 billion in income and $55.8 billion
in revenue for related businesses. In total, port activity
yields $2.8 billion in state and local taxes to Georgia's
bustling economy.
